Gary Paulsen
Gary Paulsen is the author of Hatchet. Born on May,17,1939 he became a very favored author for younger ages, he got into reading as soon as an librarian gave him his own library card. Did you know Gary Paulsen ran away at age 14 from his family to travel with the carnival? After those years with the carnival he got a taste of adventure. Years later he got summer jobs as an engineer, construction worker, ranch hand, truck driver, and sailor. When Gary Paulsen realized he wanted to be an author he was working as a satellite technician for an aerospace firm. Then he spent 1 year in Hollywood as a proof writer. He spent the nights writing his own stories. He made it to a cabin and that winter he finished writing his first novel.
